Federal Hiring Event for People with Disabilities
In October 2009, President Barack Obama announced a groundbreaking initiative to increase the employment of people with disabilities in the Federal Workforce. Please join the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Department of Labor Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), along with numerous participating agencies for a day-long Federal Hiring Event for People with Disabilities on April 26, 2010 in Washington, DC. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Jobs
The Recovery Act was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009. The purpose of the $787 billion Recovery package is to jump-start the economy to create and save jobs. The Act specifies appropriations for a wide range of federal programs. On November 9, 2009, President Obama signed an Executive Order on the Employment of Veterans in the Federal Government, which establishes the Veterans Employment Initiative for the Executive Branch. The Initiative underscores to federal agencies the importance of recruiting and training veterans, aims to increase the employment of veterans within the Executive Branch, and helps recently hired veterans adjust to service in a civilian capacity.
